Security

Resource Based Access Control & Resource Locking
Role-based access control (RBAC) is an authorization system which provides fine-grained access for the management of MS Azure resources. RBAC can be used to limit access and control permissions on Azure resources for the various teams within your IT operations.

Single-sign-on (SSO) provides the foundation for integrating SAP and Microsoft products.
Protecting your Application & Data from Network Vulnerabilities
Network security groups (NSG) contain a list of security rules that allow or deny network traffic to resources within your MS Azure VNet. NSGs can be associated with subnets or individual network interfaces attached to VMs. Security rules can be configured based on source/destination, port & protocol.
Maintaining Data Integrity through Encryption Methods
MS Azure Storage service encryption is enabled by default on your MS Azure Storage account where it cannot be disabled. Customer data at rest on MS Azure Storage is secured by default where data is encrypted/decrypted transparently using 256-bit AES
Hardening the Operating System
Security is a shared responsibility between Microsoft and you as a customer where your customer specific security controls need to be applied to the operating system, database and the SAP application layer.

Project Preparation and Planning Phase
During this phase, you plan the migration of your SAP workload to the MS Azure platform. At a minimum, during this phase you need to create the following documents and define and discuss the following elements of the migration:
- High Level Design Document
- Technical Design Document
- Inventory of all SAP Interfaces (SAP & Non-SAP)
- Design of Foundation Services
- Microsoft Professional or Premier Support Contract
- The number of MS Azure Subscriptions & Core Quota for the Subscriptions
- Data Reduction & Data Migration Plan for Migrating SAP Data into MS Azure
- An Automated SAP Deployment Approach in MS Azure Cloud
- Define a regular design and deployment review cadence between you as the customer, system integrator and other involved parties
Pilot Phase
Run a pilot before or during project planning and preparation.Use the pilot phase to test approaches and designs made during the planning & preparation phase
Non-Production Phase
After a successful pilot or proof of concept (POC), you are starting to deploy non-production SAP systems to Azure. Incorporate everything you learned & experienced during the POC to this deployment
Production Preparation Phase
In this phase, collect what you experienced and learned during your non-production deployments & apply it to future production deployments. Prepare the work of the data transfer between your current hosting location and Azure
Go-Live Phase

Post Production
This phase is about monitoring, operating and administering the system. From an SAP point of view, the usual tasks that you were required to complete in your old hosting location apply
Lift & Shift to Ms Azure
Experience the speed & agility by migrating from a SAP Business Suite running on-premises to SAP S/4HANA in the cloud. This scenario is a two-step process.
The first step being migration from enterprise resource planning (ERP) on-premises from SAP ECC, SAP ECC on SAP HANA and SAP S/4HANA on-premise to the Suite on SAP HANA in MS Azure, and then converting from Suite on SAP HANA to SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
Moving on-premise data & applications from an on-premises location to MS Azure-based virtual machines in the cloud is known as Lift-and-shift.
